On Friday, September 17, TRECA Digital Academy Students visited Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, OH.
Carillon Historical Park is a 65-acre open-air museum that serves as the main campus for Dayton History. Students participated in the program “Traveling in Time” and learned about the effects of innovations in transportation on the lives of Ohioans.
Students had several stops throughout the park where they visited the 1843 Conestoga wagon, the Miami and Erie Canal Lock No. 17, and learned about antique rail cars. Students explored why some people wanted to settle out West, and learned how modes of transportation changed over time. TRECA students also learned about Dayton's unique contributions to the world, including the airplane, the cash register, and the electric automobile self-starter. Students were very excited to be able to attend field trips again!
