On Friday, November 22, TRECA Digital Academy students visited the Harry London Chocolate Factory in North Canton, OH.
Students began their tour with a short film on the history of the Harry London Chocolate Factory. Harry London began making chocolate in downtown Chicago in 1920, and the factory in North Canton was built in 1994. In 2006, Harry London and Fannie May joined together, and were purchased by 1-800-Flowers in 2011.
Families then took a bird’s-eye-view tour of the factory via a skywalk. The chocolate is brought into the factory in unmarked trucks and stored in the tanker room. The tanker temperature ranges from 104 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit! Students then saw the wrapping and packaging areas. Harry London has an E3 rating, which means they can produce chocolate for other companies. Some of their customers include Disney World, the Cleveland Indians, and the White Sox! Unfortunately, no photos were allowed inside the factory to protect their proprietary methods.
Thank you to Harry London for a sweet tour!
