Students visit the Cleveland Museum of Natural History

November 07, 2018

On Wednesday, November 7, TRECA Digital Academy students explored the wonders of science at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Over 25 students and their families began their visit in the planetarium where they were introduced to the current nighttime sky, constellations, and the Milky Way. They learned how the tilt of the Earth’s axis causes the seasons and how the Earth’s orbit impacts the length of the calendar year.  After the visit to the planetarium, students took a self-guided tour of the museum using learning guides. Topics of exploration included human ecology, astronomy, Ohio archaeology, gems and jewels, and prehistoric life. Students were also able to venture outdoors to visit the "living galleries" of the Perkins Wildlife Center. They strolled along the center’s elevated walkways, engaging with Ohio’s native plants and wildlife and learning the importance of conservation.

Thank you to all of our families and to the museum for a great visit. It was one for the books!
